Boat Landing-less
The pros and cons of going boat landing-less
The offshore wind market is under pressure to meet high ambitions and capacity targets, challenging the overall supply chain. Simplifying and standardizing the WTG, foundation and wind farm concept could relieve some of this pressure.

One proposed way of doing so, from a monopile supplier point of view, is the removal of the boat landing, which streamlines production and reduces costs, especially when going TP-less. To initiate discussion and to identify the pros and cons of going boat landing-less, this whitepaper was initiated by Sif. To acquire a balanced view, ROER renewables was contracted to independently interview 16 key-stakeholders.

According to them, omitting the boat landing has a clear potential to reduce the overall CAPEX of a wind farm as well as improve safety by using available alternative access systems. Boat landing-less is therefore deemed “here to stay” although, in the short term, offshore wind projects with and without boat landings will co-exist for a while.
